A diverse landscape of rolling hills and stunning coastline, oak forests, Mediterranean scrubland and clear blue water. The Maremma cowboys are famous as being Europe's only true cowboys and it is also known for the Maremma Regional Nature Park conservation area.
The food is heavily rooted in the past and feature wild boar, Maremmana beef, seafood along the coast, acquacotta, a vegetable soup with bread, Tortelli Maremmani pasta filled with ricotta and spinach, wild game, notable wines such as the Morellino di Scansano, and regional vegetables including tomatoes. Regional tomatoes from Maremma are made into a fine passata which you can enjoy at home, in limited quantities on a first-come-first-served basis.
For a special sauce, you need special ingredients with regional passion and provenance. 700ml of Tuscan sunshine.
