Caputo Italian Dried Sourdough (dry inactive yeast) 1Kg

Antico lievito Madre - Sourdough 'starter' is an inactive yeast from the Caputo professional range which adds that sourdough flavour to your bread and is a 1kg bag from their professional range. You still need to use yeast, but it will give your bread a great old fashioned Italian sourdough flavour and finish, rustic, like bread used to be! And one bag will go a long way because you use  30g per kilo of flour (3 tbsp), so 33 uses  and at this price it really is great value.

    Waste of money, ended up throwing it in the bin. I started with the amount recommended on the packet and worked my way up to 3 heaped tablespoons for 1lb of bread flour and on no occasion could we taste anything at all. Don't bother.

    Just a small amount added to each batch of flour for loaves will give a wonderful crust and delicious flavour! You'll need active yeast too, but this sourdough inactive yeast is a fantastic addition for any loaf.

    Absolutely brilliant! Obviously, it's a shortcut from having to ferment my own starter; but in my hand made loaves and breadmaker loaf, it did give that sourdough tang to my loaves. Super!

    My husband is a regular baker and I purchased this when supplies of flour were limited because of Covid 19. The addition of this to his regular recipe has improved the texture of the bread he makes and produces a fine crust. We will continue to use this product.
