I am trying almost all the varieties of cima that Franchi sells. Cima cooks quickly and I love the slightly bitter flavour. This is a really nice, quick growing leafy variety. I sowed it in modules in mid-August and planted out at the end of August under fleece to keep insects off. It was ready to harvest by late September and is delicious just lightly steamed with a little salt.
The finest of all the cime di rapa (broccoli raab), the general rule is the longer the variety takes to grow, the better the quality. This one takes 150 days but it is well worth the wait. So it April or May till July for best results and enjoy it with Orechiette pasta as is the traditional way to eat it in Puglia. 12g packet.
