This onion is a speciality of Calabria where the seed is still produced and the onion itself has DOP status like Champagne from that region. It is said you can almost eat it like an apple. Very sweet and the high sugar content also means it caramelizes well. This is a mid-early variety that produce large long bulbs with reddish purple skin with firm, rosy flesh, ideal to be eaten fresh.
To be sown from April to September and harvest from May to December.
