Product Description
This top quality petit pois from Provence has intense colour and real sweetness. They are superb on their own and in dishes like the Venetian risi e bisi which is a risotto made with cooked peas and diced local ham which has been tossed in a hot pan. Plants grow 40cm tall with 7- 9cm long pods, containing 7-8 peas each – so plenty of peas to enjoy and recipes to try. Peas (and beans) are good for the soil too. Good bacteria in their roots turn the nitrogen in the air into plant fertilizer, the peas then turn it into protein for us.
Annual: Sow 5cm deep, from Feb to July in modules to transplant outside or sow directly outside from March in well-prepared soil containing generous amounts of compost as these peas like moist soil. Grow up wigwams of pea sticks or canes and netting to give them something to grab on to. Protect from slugs and snails.
