ORIGIN: Herb Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family.Hyssop is a brightly colored shrub or subshrub. Its stem is woody at the base, from which grow a number of straight branches. Its leaves are lance shaped and dark green in colour.The plant produces bunches of pink, blue, or, more rarely white fragrant flowers.
USES: Fresh hyssop leaves and shoots are used as an aromatic condiment while the air-dried flowers are used to make herbal teas.
CAUTION: Use in moderation. Should not be taken by those of a nervous disposition.
PROPERTIES: As a medicinal herb, hyssop has digestive, soothing, expectorant, and cough suppressant properties.
